A film about Thomas Paine in the works???
So, I am a subscriber to the newsletter from the World Union of Deists and they recently mentioned in their newest newsletter that a man by the name of Richard Attenborough {whom produced the the 1982 epic movie "Ghandi"} has been trying to funding to make a movie about Thomas Paine, tentavily titled 'These the the times", for awhile now and is finding it difficult. He is now receiving help from people all over the world whom want to see this project come to fruition before the 80 something year old kicks the bucket.
So, there is an org/site collecting donations for him and his project on Paine. They are called "a gift for dickie", you can read more about them and what've thus far collcted at: http://www.agiftfordickie.com/credits.php?fl=k
You can read an article about Attenboroigh and his hopes to do this movie here: http://www.filmstew.com/showArticle.aspx?ContentID=17325
If you have any extra cash kicking around, you can donate too.
This would be awesome, it would be about time that the greatest unsung hero in history, Tom Paine, rwas finally memoralized in a big budget hollywood movie like many other influential people in history.
Though, it was be better if he changed the name to either "Age of reason" or "Rights of man"- both titles of Paines greatest works and which best exemplify him. Or simply "PAINE". Personally though I'll support it regardless of what it is called{assuming to comes to fruition}.
