Hillary Clinton and "The Family" or "The Fellowship"

Apparently, Hillary happens to have a longtime association with a secretive Christian Right organization known by the names "The Family" and "The Fellowship." This organization holds an event called the "National Prayer Breakfast" every year and was responsible for the Office of Faith-Based Initiatives. Hillary has also said that she believes that the whole Bible is literally true.

Has Hillary been spending too much time hanging out with Mike Huckabee?  What other explanation is there for a serious Democratic presidential candidate holding Christian Right views on Separation of Church and State?

Whenever I hear about a

Whenever I hear about a candidate's close relationship with a crazy religious leader, I ask myself "Would this pastor, religious leader, or "spiritual mentor" (as Clinton calls Doug Coe) have any influence on the candidate's foreign policy if they got elected.?" If the answer is a yes or quite possibly, they won't get my vote.  We haven't heard a lot about Doug Coe and "the Family" in the media, but the thought of having him around in a Hillary Clinton White House gives me chills.

Bush has used leaders of the religious right to tout the invasion of Iraq to gain support  for it, and he recently did so for Iran:

Jerry Falwell had also called for a letter and email campaign to the White House to protest the pullback of some settlements on the West Bank in Israel. Bush backed down.

Politics and Zionist/Dominionist religion are a very dangerous mix.

Neocons

There are Zionists, American Zionists, and post-millenialist Christians that are allied to fullfill their interpretation of scriptures and bring about armageddon (the end of the world). Ironically their actions may do just that. The Christians think that biblical Israel has to be restored before Jesus Returns. This means encouraging Jewish settlements in Jerusalem and the occupied territories of Palestine. Because Israel is a nuclear power, but is opposed by a billion Arabs and Moslems, the conflict could escalate into a nuclear doomsday.

The Moslems (at least in Pakistan) have nukes too and their theology is just as hostile towards the West as the Zionist's is toward them. Those of us who would like to prevent this conflagration or just avoid it have our work cut out for us.

Neocons

Hillary and John McCain are Neoconservatives, ideologues that believe in exporting American democracy and goodness at gunpoint. They were influenced by ex-trotskyites like Leo Strauss, and Irving Kristol and are blindly serving the most militaristic, Likudnik forces of the Israel Lobby. Bizzarely, this also means supporting the Islamic terrorist Kosovo Liberation Army, or opposing the secular Arab Baathists as long as some bogus pretext is present like "genocide" or "weopons of mass destruction."-neither of which could be proven after the bombs stopped falling.

Any candidate not kowtowing to AIPAC is branded a racist. Examples are Ron Paul and Barack Obama. Neocons include: Douglas Feith, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, Bill Kristol, Michael Medved, Ben Stein, anyone at Project for the New American Century, the Weekly Standard or American Enterprise Institute.

Unfortunately, even the brilliant and articulate atheist Christopher Hitchens has thrown in his lot with these scumbags, which puts him at odds with Richard Dawkins, Penn and Teller and the majority of Free Thinkers I know of.

A lot of those neo cons

A lot of those neo cons such as Feith, Crystal, Wolfowitz, and Perle, welcome the added support of the Christian Zionists, as do candidates like McWhore, er, I mean McCain. What makes it interesting is that both groups would like to see the eradication of Islam, but they also have different agendas. One wants Empire for America, the other wants it for Jesus.

hitchens and the neocons

hitchens and the neocons think we are in a war with radical islam or rather islam is in a war with us .and of course that is true ,radical islam is merely the guys who read the texts and do as god commands .unlike modern christianity which cherry picks the bible for modern ,secular kinda rules , islam does not tolerate any selective reading . it is the one true perfect word of god .and education and income does not stop islam from finding new jihad soldiers .all of the 911 bombers were university educated and from well off familys ,many were phds .

much of europe within a few decades will be a muslim majority, many if not most nuslims in the west would prefer sharia law .islamic indoctrination is very strong and does not permit any debate or free thinking .islam cannot and will not accept democracy ,free speech ,equality ,tolerance or free thought .there are of course some free thinking secularized muslims , however if they value their health and safety , they will keep silent in public .leaving the faith is not permitted in many cases the penalty is death .

we are not in danger of muslim armies marching down washington ave ,we are in danger of people who do not fear death and who are capable of getting modern weapons ,islam dosent like us or our modern science driven lifestyle but it is quite willing to use our internet ,cell phones ,automatic rifles and wmds to kill us .there are some three and a half BILLION muslims and they breed like rabbits . neocons and nutball christian creationists dont want to kill you but a sizeable  percentage of 3.5 billion muslims do .this is a grim fact which we free thinkers should try to keep in the forefront of our brains .if you think christian right wingers are thickheaded ,obtuse and bigotted you had better take a look arround the muslim world .its apples and oranges .if you think th OT is full if hate ,murder and bile, have a gander at the unreadable mishmash that passes as gods last perfect word .john is soldiering through it and he loves it ...

Our foreign policy adds fuel to the fire

Our own foreign policy adds fuel to the fire. Hillary Clinton has said that she would "obliterate" Iran if necessary. In short, the crazies we have to be concerned about in America are running our government.

Check out Jeff Sharlet's book "The Family."

http://www.amazon.com/Family-Secret-Fundamentalism-Heart-American/dp/006...

Read all about this scary organization that includes members of congress and senate. They believe in Old Testament law and value strength over nurturing. In other words, guns, not butter. Helping the elite and not the poor. They've armed despots who they believed were supportive in their efforts to ward off communism while supplying the dictators with the means to carry out genocides.

They also believe they are entitled to rule the world, and us, because it's what god commands.

Rab said,They also believe

Rab said,

They also believe they are entitled to rule the world, and us, because it's what god commands.

There are so many that want to rule the world.  In the world of politics, there are clearly limits on what each of us can do.  I have heard many people who are close to me say that one day "they" will rule the world.

Personally, I have no real desire for power, yet, I am thankful to have a voice here.  All I want to do is live the rest of my life in peace. While this issue may be informative to me, as well as others, it is an issue that I sometimes grow very weary of hearing. The entire issue brings us a very interesting question that I am not going to answer...who is really in control of all things?

The future, will indeed, unfold as it should!

I am happy to be here and happy to be a free thinker.Laughing

First, Barack Obama was

First, Barack Obama was forced to denounce his former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Just recently, he's cancelled his membership from the church of which he attended for the last 20 years because of still more controvery surrounding controversial statements from a priest at the church.

John McCain was forced to denounce John Hagee and Rod Parsley because of whacky statements they made about Jews and Muslims.

Now, as you see in this video, Hillary Clinton distances herself from Coe and his '"family."
